Mexican cuisine, very ancient according to the Smithsonian

  According to a study conducted by the Smithsonian Institute, the Mexicans have been growing various kinds of chilli peppers for the last 1,500 years.

The study shows that the ancient Mexicans were sofisticated cooks and that today's "mole negro" and "salsas picadas" are much older than it is believed.Chile encontrado en la cueva de Guilá Naquitz, Oaxaca

The scientists made the discovery while exploring the caves of Guilá Naquitz and de Silva, near Mitla, on the Oaxaca Valley,on the South of Mexico.
